Step 1
You have decided to seek support. You have weighed the benefits and risks of psychotherapy and have done your research about therapists, styles and modalities before selecting your therapist.
Step 2
You have spent time browsing my website to learn about what I offer, my practices and style and other important things to know. You decide to take the leap and contact me.
Step 3
Go to the "connect" link on the top of any page of this website to complete the short info boxes that will send your consultation request directly to me. PLEASE BE BRIEF IN YOUR RESPONSES. Please note that you will receive a secure email back from me that you will have to either set a password or use any one of the three other common ways to open the email.
Not so fun side step-Occasionally there are times when my practice is full and I am unable to accept new clients. I will let you know if this is the case when I return your inquiry or if you haven’t received a response in 3 days, then my practice is full. Please be sure to inquire if I may be able to refer you to another provider who might be accepting new clients. I would be happy to do so.
Step 4
We will have likely corresponded via email about your needs. I am happy to provide a 30 minute virtual or in person consultation where you will have the opportunity to get to know me and how I work. This would be an excellent time to ask any questions you may have and to discuss your insurance or private pay needs. I would encourage you at this point to call your insurance carrier to verify what your mental health benefits are and to ensure that I am on your insurance networks panel. I would be happy to assist you with this.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE WANTING TO UTILIZE YOUR MEDICAL INSURANCE I WILL NEED TO CONDUCT A MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT. ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES REQUIRE AN ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS IN ORDER TO BILL FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES. WE WILL DICUSS THIS AT YOUR CONSULATION.
Step 5
During the consultation we will have had sufficient conversation about your needs. You are satisfied with what you have learned about the services I provide and we both feel we are a good fit. You are now ready to complete the intake paperwork.
I will send you an email with a link to my secure "client portal". In this secure portal you will be prompted to set a user name and password to access this information. Please review, complete and sign all of the intake documents before your first session. The intake documents you will complete will include policy/informed consent information, insurance and other demographic information and an initial mental health questionnaires where you can discuss more fully why you are seeking therapy, what your goals might be and other important things that you would want me to know before our first session.
Once I receive the intake paperwork back electronically, we are ready to proceed with your assessment. We either already scheduled your assessment during our consultation or I will call you to schedule your intake. Please note that we can not move forward with your intake without the informed consent and other policy documents signed and returned.
Step 6
I look forward to meeting you at your initial intake session which can take up to 90 minutes. Sessions thereafter, typically run 50-60 minutes in duration.
